Completeness: definition and importance of its use

The level of completeness of the product sheets allows, on the basis of rules defined on the fields, to know the state of progress of each product sheet and to easily visualize the missing contents. When this level reaches 100%, the product sheet is fully completed and can be published.

What is product listing completeness?

Completeness measures the rate at which essential information is filled in on a product sheet in a PIM Product Information Management). It indicates, as a percentage, whether the mandatory or strategic fields have been filled in, thus making it possible to assess whether the sheet is ready for publication.

In a PIM, completeness is calculated based on predefined rules for attributes (e.g., description, images, price, technical specifications). A rate of 100% means that all critical fields are filled in and that the listing can be distributed across sales channels (e-commerce site, marketplaces, catalogs, etc.). Conversely, a lower rate highlights missing data, making it easier for teams to correct it.

The importance of completeness lies in its direct impact on customer experience and commercial performance. An incomplete product sheet can hinder conversion, generate returns, or reduce visibility on marketplaces. By automating completeness tracking, PIM brands to quickly identify gaps, optimize time to market, and ensure reliable and consistent product data across all channels.
