Route du Rhum 2018: Quable joins forces with Nicolas Jossier

40 years of Rum!

On 4 November, 123 skippers will set off on the legendary Route du Rhum transatlantic race. The itinerary follows the emblematic merchant route that links Saint-Malo to Pointe à Pitre, Guadeloupe over a 3500 mile crossing.

The Route du Rhum in brief:

• Single-handed, non-stop, unassisted race.
• Record held by Loïck Peyron in 7 days, 15 hours and 32 seconds at an average speed of 22.93 knots.
• The 2018 edition is opening up to a new category, the Ultims (a generation of boats capable of "flying"), which could make it to the finish in six days, according to Mathieu Sarrot, who is in charge of the organisation.

Quable is partnering with skipper Nicolas Jossier.

It all started with a friendship between the founder of Quable and sailing enthusiast François-Emmanuel and Nicolas Jossier, a professional skipper. A beautiful understanding at sea which naturally translated into a friendship on land, the two friends never leave each other.

For Quable, Nicolas Jossier is more than a friend, he is a model of resilience in his sport and for his family, a lesson for all. At the highest level, his life was turned upside down by illness and he had to suddenly put aside his career and his passion to treat lymphoma. Nicolas overcame this obstacle with courage and pugnacity. Today, he takes his revenge and sails again, with renewed pleasure and reinforced ambitions.
