Product Variants
What Is a Product Variant?
A product variant refers to a version of an item that differs from other products in the same family through minor characteristics, such as color, size, material or finish. These variants share a common base (reference, description, features) but offer specific options to meet particular preferences or needs.
In the context of a PIM (Product Information Management), variants are essential for structuring and enriching the product offering. They let brands efficiently manage complex catalogs by centralizing shared information while customizing the distinctive attributes of each variant.
