Your product page reflects your brand. It’s through this that your business will either attract potential customers or, conversely, drive them away – at the risk of damaging your reputation… It’s therefore essential not to neglect them! The product data is the backbone of your e-commerce site, but how can you manage it effectively? To help you understand the importance of a high-quality product listing and to guide you in optimising it, Quable has developed its own evaluation algorithm: the Product Quality Score (PQS) 👉 find out more in the image below.

  • 30 per cent of online shoppers have already abandoned a shopping basket because of an incomplete product description.
  • 86 per cent of customers say they would not make a repeat purchase from an online retailer providing inaccurate descriptions.

This is particularly true in the fashion sector, where 1 in 4 consumers has already returned an item of clothing because of an inaccurate description.

The Product Quality Score is a tool developed by Quable to assess the quality of your product listings. How does it work?

  1. Using a URL, we collect a sample of product listings (up to 500) from your website or online shop.
  2. These listings are then analysed by our algorithm to assign them an overall quality score.
  3. You receive personalised recommendations based on four key criteria.
  • Text quality: grammar, spelling and punctuation…
  • Text length: in line with SEO recommendations
  • Key information: product composition, raw materials, place of manufacture, etc.
  • Media assets: product photos, videos, etc.
  • The optimal length for a description is between 350 and 400 characters
  • Your descriptions must include information on the product’s composition, manufacturing process and intended use
  • Text quality! The spelling in your product listings must be checked thoroughly before publication
  • Where possible, product pages should contain at least 3 images and should not exceed 500 KB

To ensure all your brand content is properly synchronised, adopt a PIM (Product Information Management) solution.

  • Collaborative work is made easier thanks to a single management platform.
  • The risk of errors is minimised by centralising product data.
  • You can easily check that all your sales channels are complete.
  • To gain an objective overview of the quality of your product listings.
  • To identify your strengths and weaknesses – and the areas to focus on to create more effective product listings!
  • Because the relevance of product information is key to the customer’s shopping experience.

Based on this audit, you’ll be able to optimise the quality of your product listings more easily, particularly with a view to collaborative management within a PIM.
