Background

Werner operates in the electrical distribution sector, a market characterized by massive product catalogs, constant SKU updates, and highly diverse data sources. With tens of thousands of products coming from multiple manufacturers (each delivering information in different formats and cadences) the company needed a modern, scalable way to ensure accurate, complete, and reliable product data.

To respond to these challenges, Werner chose Quable PIM, supported by the expertise of Xngage, to centralize product information, automate data ingestion from external repositories, and significantly reduce manual work across teams.

The issues

A growing volume of SKUs with inconsistent data

Manufacturers delivered product information through various formats and sources, making it difficult to maintain accuracy, consistency, and completeness across Werner’s catalog.

Inefficient manual processes

With their previous Optimizely PIM, teams faced heavy manual enrichment work, limited automation capabilities, and insufficient collaboration functionalities.

A complex taxonomy structure

Many products belonged to multiple categories, creating ambiguity in product classification and leading to misaligned structures across systems. In the electrical distribution industry, even small data inconsistencies can cause ordering errors, safety issues, or lost sales, making these challenges critical to address.

Quable PIM solutions

Werner needed a PIM capable of integrating directly with external data repositories to automate product data flow and drastically improve content quality from the start.

Automated ingestion of external data (AD integration)

Xngage built an integration that imports AD product data directly into Quable. Each product is mapped to its unique ID, attributes are aligned with Quable’s existing structure, and data flows automatically in a consistent, reliable format. This automation eliminates manual imports and ensures products are complete and ready to enrich from the start.

A cleaned and scalable taxonomy structure

Werner audited its taxonomy with Xngage to ensure every product is correctly assigned to its category and that the structure aligns across both the PIM and eCommerce channel. The result is a clearer, more reliable catalog that supports efficient enrichment and publication processes.

A single source of truth for product data

Structured data and assets are centralized within Quable, enabling faster, more accurate updates. The PIM allows full control of product content, reducing errors and manual work while creating a scalable system that can integrate additional data sources and workflows over time.

Quable enabled Werner to:

Significant time savings
Significant time savings
Automated ingestion dramatically reduced manual imports and corrections, enabling Gabby to focus on improvement initiatives rather than repetitive cleanup tasks.
Higher-quality product data

With structured data entering the PIM from the start, completeness and accuracy improved across the entire catalog.
A future-ready architecture

The new system allows Werner to onboard additional data sources, expand automation, and prepare workflows for broader team collaboration.

“The biggest improvement since going live is the amount of fuller, more accurate product data flowing automatically into the PIM. The automation and structure have already saved significant time and improved the reliability of our catalog.”
